the world hates cynics. really. have you ever told someone that you're a pessimist? it never ceases to amaze me the reaction of otherwise happy people upon hearing that one has decided to follow the path of cynicism. they're suddenly very unhappy people. it's like they expect that, after you've said that you're a pessimistic person that you're some kind of eeyore, a debby downer. this is not always so. sometimes pessimists have happy days. just not very many of them. the thing is, is that the pessimist, despite what he appears to be, is cautious. he is always careful not to get too happy because happiness, like life itself is fleeting. he doesn't want to get too caught up in something that may go at any moment. but the pessimist isn't all doom and gloom either. like i said, there is plenty in life to enjoy and the pessimist enjoys much of it... just cautiously so. that's how clowns do what they do.
